“UNWRAPPING NOSTALGIA: RELIVING THE BEST G.I. JOE CHRISTMAS HAULS FROM 1989-1990 WEEK #3!

Welcome to the Outpost. Sliding hard into Christmas, does everyone have their shopping done yet? This month I’m taking a look at my best Christmas GI Joe hauls from 1982 – 1994 ranking my personal Christmas hauls from not the best to the greatest ever. So I went over my 6 least favorite years for Joe hauls the last 2 weeks, so this week I start with 1985. Now these are only based on my personal hauls for each year, it doesn’t have anything to do with figures or vehicles produced these years. 1985 has been called the GI Joe heyday. I did have a good year this year. Well my brother mostly did getting some of my favorites like the Snowcat and Crimson Twins.

I picked up Shipwreck and Footloose that summer but I did not get anything for Christmas Joe related. Of course I wanted a Flagg that year and would have loved a Mauler or Ferret and Airtight, Alpine, and Barbecue but non came and life moved on. 1990 was a bitter sweet year for me. I would get a nice Joe haul this year however it would be the last year I would receive Joes for Christmas. Although I loved GI Joe dearly I was getting older and I was into many other things so it was a natural progression. I got a handful of figures and my 2 favorites that I did get were Range Viper and Ambush.

A couple cool figures I would have loved to get are Skydive and Captain Grid Iron. I’m happy to have had them all at some point in my collection though. Moving on to my final for this week 1989. It was a tough decision putting this in my 5th spot as I did get one of my favorite vehicles this year and have most of it left. The Crusader was one of 5 vehicles me and my younger brother got this year. It’s still one of my favorite vehicles. It’s big but still compact enough to display a space scene without taking over a room. There are also a bunch of staple characters from this year like Scoop, Stalker, and Rock n Roll that I had growing up and still have them, some with a few chew marks my puppy put in them. He really loved GI Joe. I also got Allie Viper, Night Viper, and TARGAT all ones I still cherish today. The one vehicle I did not get and have never owned is the Cobra Condor Z25. I do have a nice Aero-Viper so I hope to get my hands on one of these someday. What is your favorite from these 3 years? Check back next week for my next 3 favorite Joe Christmas Hauls.
